Can I choose what pigment I have?Yes! We offer 3 types of pigments at the clinic, organic, inorganic & hybrid pigments. The main differences between the pigments are how long they last in the skin. This will determine how frequently you will require maintenance boosts and also how much 'room for movement' you have. What is room for movement? When we talk about room for movement, it simply means how much leeway you have overtime with your brow technique/style, shape and colour. some of our clients know exactly what they want and they want it to LAST. Others may wish to leave the door open to changing up your technique at each colour boost. This will all depend on your personal style and preferences Breakdown Organic pigments Organic pigments tend to be more vibrant and have a wider range of colours. Organic pigments consist usually of smaller particles and are long lasting. For clients, this means less long-term maintenance, as fewer touch-ups are required. However, this also means that clients must commit to both colour and shape from the very beginning, with little room for adjustments over time due to the permanency of the organic particles. Inorganic pigments Inorganic pigments have larger particles, are a bit more earthy and muted in colour, which generally makes for natural, subtle results. However they are far less permanent compared to organic pigments, as they often fade out of the skin within 12 months. Hybrid pigments A hybrid pigment is just as the name suggests, it's somewhere in the middle! It's a mix of organic & inorganic properties; this means we are able to take the benefits of each - for optimised colour brightness, opacity, and ideal longevity. These pigments last on average 2-4 years in the skin and give a gentle fade over time.

What is V Blade?Microblading is a way of implanting pigment under the epidermis. It is done using a specially designed tiny blade, which leaves a fine hair stroke for the most natural finish. Together, we design a brow which is totally bespoke for you. Your colour will be mixed from the highest quality pigments - just for you. With this method our technicians can create almost any look - from a very natural light finish to beautiful bold brows. Sparse or missing brows can be completely restored when using the hand-held microblade. This procedure will always fade down by 15-40% depending on skin type.
-
What is V Combination? This combination of dreams helps to achieve the best bits of V Brow and V Shade. V Shade is a popular technique for those that seek definition and structure for a low- maintenance wake-up and-go brow. V Brow is a popular technique for a hyper-realistic super natural brow. V Combination gives you the structure and body of the brow blended with digital hair strokes for a soft and fluffy overall finish. The Digital hair Stokes Element The hair strokes normally sit at the front and top of the brow for a soft and natural effect, while the Airbrush Powder (shading) goes in at the base or the base to mid-brow. This covers the areas that have been over-plucked and left with patch loss, creating a stronger definition. The Airbrush Powder Element Airbrush Powder (Shading) is a versatile procedure that can be applied anywhere on the brow to achieve your required look. It is also great for covering scars. Hair strokes and Airbrush together can also create the ombre (lighter to darker) effect. For example, natural and more delicate at the front and then stronger/ darker at the base, and tail of the eyebrow. This procedure will always fade down to 15-40% in colour, depending on the skin type.
-
What is V Shade?V Shade also known as Airbrush Powder Shading will give you a heavier, defined looking brow that is built up with acupuncture needles. This is for clients who want a strong brow or wear a lot of brow makeup. We use our Airbrush Powder technqiue to build up a soft pixelated colour. This brow is also great to cover up poor previous work. Once healed it leaves a powder effect. This procedure will always fade down to 15-40% depending on the skin type.
-
What if I want to remove old brow pigment / start again? You may have previous work you no longer want, maybe your style/preferences have changed or as you have aged you wish to soften your overall look. In this instance, depending on the pigment that has been applied to your skin, you will have two options. 1) Wait for the pigment to fade down enough for an artist to perform a brow correction service. How faded the pigment needs to be will be to the discretion of your chosen PMYU artist. How long it will take for your brows to fade completely/enough for an artist to be comfortable working onto of them will vary from person to person. We each have a unique skin type and therefore all hold onto pigment differently, if you wanted a faster solution you could; 2) Look at laser removal to speed up the process of reducing or removing the pigment. Please follow the guidelines and advice of your laser technician in these instances.
-
How long does the procedure take? All semi-permanent brows are done in two sessions (4-8 weeks apart). The first session takes up to two hours and the second session takes up to one hour. An Annual Colour Boost takes one hour. How frequently you will need / want colour boosts will be dependant on your skin type. We always advise a technique that will give you the best longevity of results for your skin type, however you may choose a pigment or technique that requires higher maintenance. Your technical will highlight this before any work commences.

How can I build up my brow?At The White House clinic, we always advise you to start off natural and build upon this as time goes by. Once pigment is added we are limited to what we can do in terms of making changes. We will always advise you to take baby steps - less is more! We can always add more, but we can't take it away! This is why we bring new clients in for two sessions, so we can build your tailor made brow with you over two sessions, step by step - starting soft and natural and adding more where/if necessary.
-
How long will my results last? All the brows that we offer are semi-permanent makeup, where the pigment lasts anywhere from 1 - 8+ years depending on your skin type and type of technique. However, an annual colour boost is recommended. This timeframe will vary by client. If aftercare instructions are followed correctly, your new brows will last approximately 12-18 months. For some people, their brows will last even longer, for some they may fade sooner. Certain factors such as sun exposure, getting chemical peels, oily skin type, etc. will affect whether your brows will last on the higher or lower end of the expected 12-18 months. Also, some clients really prefer a fresh, bright look. Those clients opt to come in for Colour Boosts every 12 months instead of waiting for their brows to completely fade. Please note if you have oily skin or an oily t-zone this usually requires more frequent colour boosts. Your technician will advise you on the necessary colour boost needed for your brows. See our FAQ tab on our pigment ranges and how this can impact how long your brows last.
-
Is the procedure painful? There is a level of discomfort, however we do use anaesthetic during the procedure so the pain is minimal or there is no pain at all. We talk you through every step and everything is fully explained before anything is carried out.
-
Is the procedure suitable for pregnant women? All semi-permanent makeup procedures cannot be applied onto anyone who is pregnant or breast-feeding, therefore we will need to be informed if you are.
-
Do I need a patch test?A patch test is required before the procedure to ensure you are not allergic to pigments or numbing cream. This is for your own safety to ensure a patch test has been carried out before your appointment - at least 24 hours prior to the procedure. If you are called in for a cancellation, a patch test is still essential. The patch test is posted out via Royal Mail once the deposit for the procedure has been received.
-
What will my brows look like after the procedure? We are extremely hot on our aftercare which needs to be carried out for 7 days post both the first and second sessions. After the first application, they will be darker and appear very crisp and sharp looking. The colour will reduce 5 days in to your aftercare. An aftercare pack and instructions are given out and fully explained.
-
When will I need a colour boost as it's permanent? We call annual applications colour boosts. This is to maintain your brows to keep them looking fresh. Your technician will advise you on the best aftercare and maintenance suitable for your eyebrows to help prolong and maintain the colour.
-
Do I need a consultation? You do not need a consultation unless you feel like you need to. We talk you through all options that will be suitable for you prior to the procedure. If you do require a consultation, there is a charge of £75 as half an hour is taken out of our appointment days for this. PLEASE NOTE, if you have had previous work done, we need to know in advance to see if you are suitable to work on and if we can achieve your required look. We will require detailed images of any previous work and a consultation is required if the previous work has not faded by at least 50-70%. Please contact us to discuss.
-
How do I decide on which brow design offered to go for?We offer different brows for different required looks. See an in depth breakdown of our brow techniques on 'Our Brows' web page. At the start of your first session, your technician will discuss all options to see which technique is suitable to reach your expectations. Additionally, when we tattoo, we are not just looking at brow hair loss, it is far more than that. We are looking at the right shape for you. Brows and lips should be customised and made individually for you. We study all your features, bone structure, colouring and complexion. We are all made uniquely. We seek to create balance, symmetry and perfection, whilst also accounting for your likes, your preferences and even your personality. All these elements will also likely influence your final choice in the right brow type for you. We will of course guide you through this process and rest assured you will feel completely comfortable before we begin.
-
How is the procedure carried out?SESSION 1 - You will arrive to your appointment, prior to which we kindly ask your medical history and consent form has been filled out and signed prior to arrival - this is electronically set our before your first appointment date. Your technician will fully discuss which brow is most suitable for you based on your skin, level of hair loss if any, how you wear your makeup and personal style. Your brows will then be measured, mapped out and pre-drawn on with a surgical pen. You will be shown the mapped shape and agree on the shape & size before any ink touches the skin. We will then go ahead and proceed with the agreed technique. Your aftercare will be explained thoroughly to you as your appointment draws to a close. You will then be guided to make your remaining payment and receive your aftercare pack. SESSION 2 - This second session completes your required look. As skin is a 'live canvas' we learn almost everything from a healed result, there is a level of unpredictability when tattooing the skin the first time. This is why we invite you in for a top-up session. On session 1, your technician will guide you, on your top-up session we ask you to guide us! We will ask you things like how do you feel about the shape, width, length, thickness etc and make and 'tweaks' necessary as you have now adjusted to your new brow. All pigment will be applied evenly into the skin, but this doesn't mean the skin will heal evenly. This is why a top-up session is a required as, as well as working with you to achieve your desired and look, we can focus on areas that are weaker and struggling if applicable. Once the procedure is carried out you will then be given the same aftercare to follow and we will advise you on when your colour boost will be needed next.
-
Will I be required to fill out a consent form and a medical history questionnaire? An accurate medical history and consent form will be required to be filled out upon arrival and filed under confidentiality.

-
Will it look natural?Semi-permanent makeup should always look natural. The brow should sit where it is meant to, blend in with your hairs and fit within your brow pattern. The techniques used at The White House Clinic create realistic, simulated hair strokes that look just like real hair. It’s important you choose the right artist that can give you this realistic 3D look. Your brows can be as big and bold, or as soft and subtle as you like.
-
What is the healing process? Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and may last a day or so, depending on the client. Your new brows will initially appear DARKER, WIDER, AND SHARPER than the way they will when healed. This is especially true for days 2-5. It is harder for some clients than others. Clients who rarely wear makeup may find that they don't like how their brows look on these days because they are too intense. That's normal! The pigment is sitting on top of the skin and has not yet settled into your face. As your skin heals over the tattoo, your brows will lighten and soften. This process takes about 7 days or so on average. It’s important to follow all aftercare instructions and to attend the required follow up appointment to make the finishing touches to your new brows. Your healing is only about 50% in our control. Once you leave, it's up to you to be strict about following the instructions you're given to get the best result. And no matter how great they look, it's important to come for your touch up appointment to get the final result.
-
How is V Blade different from a traditional eyebrow tattoo? The most common type of traditional eyebrow tattoos involve the use of a tattoo gun and a block style brow, which leaves the client with a dark, outlined eyebrow and no depth. These often fade to really unflattering colours. Microblading by The White House Clinic leaves the client with crisp, thin and natural lines that look identical to real hair. Careful selection of pigment is chosen to give depth and shape so that the natural brows, and microbladed strokes blend seamlessly.
-
Are there some clients who can't retain pigment?Yes, this does happen. Some people have highly effective immune systems that reject the pigment, and some just have highly effective skin healing. It's very rare, but it's important that all clients understand this is a possibility and in most cases, there is no way for us to know if this will take place prior to the work being done. Rarely, we will recommend a third appointment to further touch the brows up if the client is retaining some pigment after the first touch up, however anything beyond that would likely be too much for the skin and the client would likely not be a candidate for further Microblading.
-
Can I buy a gift voucher? We are pleased to now be offering gift vouchers, you can pay for an amount towards a procedure or the whole procedure. Once we have received payment, you will receive your gift voucher by recorded delivery to your home address, or alternatively collect from the clinic.
-
Can my poorly tattooed eyebrows be fixed? In most cases poorly tattooed brows can be fixed. However, your expectations need to be realistic as results are not always comparable to a fresh, new brow procedure. Poorly shaped, unnatural coloured brows need to be corrected. Please ensure you contact us with detailed images of your brows if you have had previous work done. We cannot carry out this procedure unless your previous work has faded by 50-70%. We would advise you book a consultation and will not carry out this work without one unless fading to this degree has taken place.
-
Can I wear makeup after? We advise not to wear brow makeup after the procedure until the skin has healed as this may cause an infection and hinder the healing process. You can wear face makeup up to your brow but please be careful and ensure you have no contact with the brow. We advise a good makeup brush.
-
What if I am on medication - Will this affect my results? There is some medication that is contraindicated. It is vitally important to let us know and we can discuss it with you.
-
Whom have you trained with? Our Clinic Director, Zara Rouse has been on over 10 training courses. This is following her decade of working in the hair loss industry. She has very high standards, so will choose extremely carefully and never goes cheap. She is also a qualified trainer, who loves to continue learning herself, share and train to her standards. We believe in staying ahead of trends, new innovations and techniques in the industry and keeping our skills sharp. Our learning is therefore crucial and continuous.
-
What if the style or trend changes? If you use a true professional, they will not do anything too trendy. We measure the brows for your face measurements, this will show you where your brow should be placed. We do not aim to take any/ too much hair away as this is why you are coming to us. Colour is always chosen very carefully, to match your skin and hair tones.
-
How soon after the procedure can I go out?Immediately! As mentioned the colour will appear a little darker than required for the first few days. The aftercare lotion we give you can leave a shine to the brow but nothing scary.
-
What is the risk of infections? At all times, we achieve the strictest sterilisation procedures. We only use sterile and disposable needles - which are opened in front of each client and are used for your complete safety. If you follow the aftercare guidelines we provide you with, infection is highly unlikely.
-
When can I get PMU before or after Chemotherapy? There is little to work around in terms of timeframes before chemotherapy; we ideally ask to allow the skin 7 days to heal before starting your course of treatment. Post treatment we need to allow 6 weeks to pass before performing the procedure. We can work on any level of hair loss. We recommend sending in a few images of your brows before any loss so we can match and emulate your natural hair flow and pattern as accurately as possible. You can always bring your eyebrow pencil/powder with you on the day to aid with colour matching too!
-
What if I take aspirin, blood thinners, am on thyroid medication or am diabetic? We ask in this case that you provide a doctors note where your GP has approved a brief break in medication before your procedure and resume as normal afterwards. Please note any new clients that have never had PMU before will need to take 2 breaks as we offer 2 sessions 4-6 weeks apart.
